You use an iPhone. For the kid, an inexpensive Android.

Then an app says "parent and child must use the same kind of phone", and you stop.

All you wanted was to switch it from outside, and the parent app isn't on your iPhone.

This combination is the most common one in a family: a parent on iPhone, a child's first phone on Android. Live Lock is built so it does not get in the way.

Live Lock is a parental control app that goes on the child's Android. Pick the apps you don't want opened (YouTube, games, Settings, purchases); when your child opens one, the screen quietly closes, and everything else works as usual. The lock runs inside the child's phone, so nothing is installed on your iPhone.

— How

Switch it from your iPhone, wherever you are

All you use is the Google Calendar that is already on your iPhone.

  1. Install Live Lock on your child's Android, set a parent PIN, and pick the apps to hide.
  2. Set up one calendar for your child and share it to your Google account. Live Lock walks you through it.
  3. In Google Calendar on your iPhone, put an event on that calendar named "Full lock" or "Parent mode".

"Running late, you can play first" or "full lock from 9 pm, every day": one event. When there is no event, the phone goes back to its usual schedule.

— Buying

Buying happens on the child's Android too

The purchase is made with the Google account on your child's Android. If that account is managed with Family Link, it can buy the prepaid plan (1 month, 6 months or 1 year) or Lifetime with a parent's approval. The approval request arrives in Family Link on your iPhone.

Free first. Every feature is free for the first 14 days after installing. No purchase, no card. To try again later, the one-month prepaid plan is the easiest.

QDo I install anything on my iPhone?

No. Live Lock goes only on the child's Android. Switching from anywhere uses the Google Calendar already on your iPhone.

QHow do I switch it when I am out?

Share a calendar for your child to your Google account. Put an event there named, for example, "Full lock", and your child's phone switches modes for that hour.

QCan I buy it from my iPhone?

The purchase is made with the Google account on the child's Android. If that account is managed with Family Link, it can buy the prepaid plan or Lifetime with a parent's approval.
