Too much YouTube. Stop it without taking the phone.
Close YouTube only at the times you choose. Every other app stays as it is.
"Just one video." An hour later, still there.
At dinner, before the bath, the eyes never leave the screen.
Every "that's enough" makes the whole house tense.
YouTube is not the problem. The missing part is a stopping point. So put the stopping point inside the phone.
Live Lock is a parental control app for the moments you hand an Android phone to your child. You pick the apps you don't want opened (YouTube, games, Settings, purchases). When your child opens one, the screen quietly closes, and everything else works as usual. Only the screen closes, so music and notifications keep going. Switch with a weekly schedule, or from your own phone through Google Calendar.
Close YouTube at the hours you choose
Not taking the phone away. Just "that screen doesn't open at this hour". Learning apps and drawing apps stay open the whole time.
- Install Live Lock on your child's Android and set a parent PIN.
- In the app list, switch YouTube on. If your child watches in the browser instead, switch on Chrome or whichever browser too. YouTube Kids can stay off.
- In the weekly schedule, set the hours it stays closed: "weekdays 8 pm to 7 am", "homework time".
When the hour comes, the screen simply closes the moment it is touched. No lock screen, no PIN prompt. Nothing to argue about.
"Thirty minutes of video, just for today" works too. Set the time, and when it is over the usual schedule takes back over. Reward days and no-phone days, without reopening the settings.
From anywhere: put an event named "Full lock" on the Google Calendar on your own phone, and your child's phone switches modes for that hour. No parent app, no new account.
Only the screen closes
Some kids do homework with YouTube playing music. Live Lock closes only the screen and leaves the app running, so music playing in the background keeps playing. Notifications arrive, the smartwatch and earbuds stay connected. "No videos, but music is fine" just works.
Questions parents ask
QI closed the YouTube app, but my child watches it in the browser.
The browser (Chrome and others) can be added to the same list, so it closes too. Learning apps and YouTube Kids can stay open.
QDo music and notifications stop while it is closed?
No. Only the screen closes; the app keeps running. Music, notifications and Bluetooth connections continue.
QI already limit YouTube with Family Link. Can I use both?
Yes. Family Link handles daily time limits and approvals. Live Lock handles not showing a screen at the times you choose. The roles do not overlap, so both can stay installed.
QIs there a free trial?
Every feature is free for the first 14 days after installing, with no card. After that, closing one app stays free.
No more heart-skipping moments.
Every feature free for 14 days. One app stays free after that. No card needed.
